Primate of UGCC calls Greek Catholics to expand to the east of Ukraine
The Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk in his homily on the occasion of Pentecost said that the task of the Greek-Catholic Church is the extension to the east of Ukraine.
"What direction will lead us the Holy Spirit today? This direction today is shown to us by the Holy Father Pope Francis. This direction today was also shown by His Eminence Cardinal Parolin because he started his visit from the east of Ukraine, the city of Zaporozhie, where he called us, bishops ... to show that the future of our Church and of our Ukraine is forged there today," said the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholics.
The Greek-Catholic Archbishop noted that the UGCC initially included a small number of dioceses with the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptitsky; however, it increased in quantity due to the expansion of its activities.
"Let us pray for our Church, so that today it … will advance where it is most waited for, where there is most of darkness, tears and blood, pain and suffering. Let’s expand to the east of Ukraine, which so much requires the presence of true Christians," he stressed.
