Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra commemorates saints of Far Caves
Clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church prayerfully commemorated the Synaxis of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves who rest in the Distant Caves. The festive Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Agapit of the Caves was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC, the UOC Information Center reports.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, head of the UOC Information and Education Department; Archbishop Ambrose of Zghurivka; Bishop Arkadiy of Hostomel; Bishop Filaret of Baryshivka; as well as clergy and ordained guests of the monastery.
After the Gospel reading, Metropolitan Anthony spoke to the faithful about the spiritual feats of the saints of the Kyiv Caves. Those attending the service offered prayers for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from the enemy and the protection of people who have lost their homes.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy sang a hymn of praise for the feast and read a prayer to the holy fathers of the Caves. Metropolitan Anthony then congratulated the parishioners on the feast day of the ascetics of the Caves and sprinkled the faithful with holy water.
As previously reported by the UOJ, His Beatitude officiated at the celebrations on the feast day of St. Anthony of the Caves.
