Political expert: the state has no right to distinguish between “bad” and “good” Church (VIDEO)

The very fact that out of all denominations and religious associations of Ukraine only representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were not invited to the ceremonial meeting on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine is a violation of the Constitution by the state. It was reported by politexpert Mihail Pogrebinskiy.

Representatives of all Ukrainian denominations were invited on the occasion of the Constitution Day, except for that of the Moscow Patriarchate. I mean it is a canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, conventionally tagged with MP. I want to say this is a telling example of the Constitution’s violation, since according to the Constitution, the state has no right to distinguish one Church as “bad” and another as “good”. This is a direct infringement of the constitutional norm. Nobody paid attention to that”, emphasized the expert.

It will be reminded on 28 June a ceremonial meeting was held in the Parliament on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine. The festivity was attended by the country’s political actors, representatives of civil organizations, including primates of all confessions and religious organizations of Ukraine. Except for the representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – the Kiev Metropolitan’s Office did not receive a Letter of Invitation to participate in festivities on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine.
