Primate of UOC leads festive Liturgy on the Day of the Baptism of Rus

July 28, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine led the festive Divine Liturgy at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, as reported by the TV channel Inter

On the Day of the Baptism of Rus by the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Divine Service is celebrated in line with the Charter of Mount Athos as it was done 1,000 years ago. 

The Liturgy is attended by the monks from the Holy Mount Athos and thousands of Ukrainian believers. Metropolitan Onufriy also serves with the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Archbishop Job of Telmessos (Getcha). 

The Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary read out the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on canonizing the famous Athonite ascetic and a zealous advocate of the Orthodox Faith Rev. John the Hagiorite (Vishensky).
