Over 3 thousand believers made a Cross Procession journey to the Valley of Jehoshafat
Today, on August 15, the believers of Golychintsy village of Shargorod district, Vinnitsa region, undertook a Cross procession to the Valley of Jehoshafat. There was held a moleben service and the Liturgy. As reported by the UOJ, over 3 thousand pilgrims had gathered for the Cross procession.
The faithful started the Cross procession from the church of the Great Martyr Demetruis of Thessalonica in Golychintsy village at 7 a.m. They covered about 4 km to the Valley of Jehoshafat where they held the moleben prayer and Liturgy.
The Cross procession was organized by the clergy of Saint Nicholas monastery, situated in Shargorod district of Vinnitsa region.
The Valley of Jehoshafat belongs to the sanctities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the Legendary, on 15 August 1923, at this place over the holy well, monk Jacob saw the Holy Virgin Mary who called, “Glorify God, put Crosses!” Nowadays there are thousands of crosses around the Valley of Jehoshafat. New crosses are brought and put here by the faithful.
