Sociologists: 25% of Ukrainians support the abortion ban, nearly 70% - a total ban on same-sex relationships

In Ukraine, from 2012 to 2016 loyalty to abortion has increased, while the attitude to the employment of migrant workers and same-sex relationships has deteriorated, according to the study conducted by the sociological group "Rating" at the request of the analytical center "Rating Pro", reports by Interfax.

31% of respondents believe that it is not necessary to restrict abortions in Ukraine, 27% think that they should be substantially limited but not prohibited, while a quarter (25%) is in favor of a total ban on abortion.

Free broadcast on television of erotic films is supported by 15% of respondents, 32% think it is essential to limit but not prohibit a demonstration of such films, and 46% of respondents are in favor of a total ban.

On the issue of limitation of prostitution in Ukraine 12% of respondents believe that it is not necessary to limit, 21% agree to a significant limitation and 53% of respondents are in favour of a total ban.

Regarding same-sex relationships, only 8% of respondents in Ukraine oppose any limitation, 15% think that it should be significantly limited but not prohibited, and 69% comes out for a total ban.

According to the study, since 2012, the attitude to same-sex relations has deteriorated in all socio-demographic groups. The study shows a persistent tendency: the older a respondent is, the lower educational level he/she has, the greater the support of the ban is. More liberal views are common to young people, people with high levels of education and income.

The survey was conducted on June 21-28. 2200 respondents in all regions of Ukraine, except for uncontrollable parts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, were surveyed. The margin of error doesn't exceed 2.1%.
