New antichurch draft law is promoted by the “lunatic”, – expert

Director of the Humanitarian Strategies Fund, politologist Mikhail Pavliv thinks that draft law #5309 is populist and will be hardly put to vote by the Verkhovna Rada in the near future. These were comments on the new legislative initiative, given by Pavliv to the UOJ, according to which the Church should change its name if its administrative bodies are based in the country, recognized by the VR as an aggressor state.

“It’s hard to comment on the actions of lunatic people. Sometimes it’s next to impossible. I would indeed make do with such a comment, said political expert Mikhail Pavliv. – This draft law is a PR-initiative of the so called “war party” (this is a definition referring to a group of people who attribute their welfare, image and success to confrontation). This is nothing more but pure PR discourse. It’s not worth viewing this draft regulation seriously, unlike the two previous antichurch legislative initiatives. Draft law #5309 is a populist document of the first water, defining its main informational content and sense.”

Draft law #5309 has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, according to which a religious organization, whose administrative center is based in the country, recognized by the VR as an aggressor state, is obliged “in its full name, specified in its charter (provision), to reflect its affiliation to the religious organization (association) outside Ukraine, being incorporated (or being a part) of this organization (association), by means of the mandatory reproduction of the full charter name of such organization (association) in its name, with a likely addition of the words “in Ukraine” and/or designation of its status in the structure of the foreign religious organization.”
