Suspect in the murder of the abbess detained in Belarus

Belarusian police have arrested a suspect in the murder of the abbess of St. Ksenia’s Convent mother Basilissa, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the SK.

After the information about the murder, the Belarusian Exarchate suggested that the mother was attacked by one of the sick novices.

Criminal proceedings were instituted upon the murder of mother Basilissa.

As reported on Friday by the Belarusian agency BelaPAN with reference to the head of the pilgrimage service of St. Ksenia’s Convent Natalia Zakrevskaya, as a result of an attack allegedly by a woman who came to help the convent the abbess with stab wounds was taken to hospital but could not be saved.

The funeral service to the deceased will take place on January.

Abbess Basilissa (Medved’), murdered on the night of 5 to 6 January, was the abbess of the convent in Belarus for more than 10 years. Mother Basilissa was born in Ukraine.
