Metropolitan Ambrosios of Kalavryta: Power in Greece destroys economy, history and Orthodoxy
At the beginning of his message His Eminence reminds he was the one to believe in pre-election resolutions of Mr Tsipras to pursue the policy of Greece liberation from “the occupation by its European partners.” Instead the government began to lead Greece deliberately to a disaster. In particular, the authorities are gradually ruining “economy, cultural legacy, history, traditions, and Orthodox faith.”
Appealing to the Prime Minister, His Eminence condemns him in his “being aimed at the extermination of the Greek Orthodox Church.”
Apart from destructive policy in educational sphere, family is affected. “The government has legalized same-sex marriages, whose participants are granted social allowances similar to traditional families.”
Metropolitan Ambrosios assumes the Greek Prime Minister acts insincerely: by declaring himself atheist, he participates in Orthodox worships, during which he shows an improper behavior (demonstrating his indifference, smiling, laughing).
In the Metropolitan’s opinion, responsibility is to be partially shared by representatives of the Church hierarchy, who allow an atheist person to attend the Divine Liturgy. “Perhaps, one should recall an example of Saint Ambrosios of Mediolan, who barred Emperor Theodosius the Great from entering a shrine?”, wonders Metropolitan Ambrosios
