Details of a fight during Filaret’s service in St. Vladimir’s Cathedral disclosed

Details of the mass fight which occurred on the evening of January 28 during the service of the head of the Kiev Patriarchate Filaret at St.Vladimir’s Cathedral have appeared on the Internet, reports Vesti.

During the appointment of the new "bishop" of Zhitomir and Ovruch Paisii Kukharchuk, a group of youngsters of about 20 began shouting unflattering remarks in his address.

"These guys came as close as possible to the altar and, turning to Filaret, shouted," Your Holiness, this man cannot be made a bishop." Someone tried to get them out of the cathedral, but the guys resisted, which ended up in a scuffle," – said woman who sells candles and church literature in the cathedral.

The police confirmed that the patrol was called to St.Vladimir’s Cathedral, but refused to comment on the details. The fact of the incident with a fight was also confirmed in the cathedral.

Paisii Kukharchuk is known to have been a monk of St. Michael's Golden Monastery and a cleric of the Kiev diocese.
Patrioty website reports that the fight was organized by parishioners of other UOC-KP churches in order to attract attention to the church issue in society. There is also an assumption that the reason was bishop Paisii’s personal life.
As the media reported earlier, a fight took place at St. Vladimir’s Cathedral in Kiev; as a result, the police arrested a 23-year old man with a knife.
