UOC continues to fight for the temple in Alexandria

On July 26, at its meeting the Holy Synod of the UOC decided to re-subordinate the Church Complex of the Nativity of the Alexandrian diocese of the UOC to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine (Journal No. 24), reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

In order to solve the current situation around the temple complex in Alexandria, Kirovograd region, it is granted the status of stavropegion with direct subordination to His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.

Earlier, by order № 0931 of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onufry dated 07.06.2017, a commission was established to study the state of affairs in the Alexandria diocese.

The commission worked in the city of Alexandria in the Church of the Nativity of Christ on June 27, 2017. Conclusions on the results of the work were recorded in a written report and submitted to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine.

In the city of Alexandria, Kirovograd region, a businessman sued the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the community of the UOC. As reported by the UOJ, Anatoly Poliatsky, a Dnipro resident, who helped the community build a church, now insists that the Church of the Nativity of Christ is the property of his son. Moreover, he wants to take away the land, which was granted to the community of the UOC for permanent use.
