Attack of the UOC by authorities is counterproductive, – expert
Attacks of the authorities on the Church are carried on, which has inevitably led to the consolidation of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It was said by Director of the Consulting Company “Power Party” Yelena Dyachenko during the press-conference of RIA Novosti Ukraina “Political outcome of the week”, commenting on the situation around Tithes Monastery.
"The authorities, planning a large-scale attack on the church – with a view to mobilizing their electorate, constructing a new enemy, received a response from the faithful – certain mobilization from the parishioners of the UOC," the expert believes.
She stressed that the actions of the authorities had the opposite effect, and now they will have a pause, but they will pursue with the attacks on the Church.
"In general, we can state the informational and positional loss of power in this confrontation," Y. Dyachenko believes.
On February 9 at a meeting of the Standing Committee of Kiev City Council on urban planning, architecture and land use all 18 present deputies supported the petition calling for the demolition of the temple of Tithes Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Kiev.
