Metropolitan Onuphry blessed students at the start of the new academic year.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the start of the academic year at the Protection of the Mother of God Holosiiv Monastery. This was reported by the UOC Information and Education Department.

The Primate celebrated the festive service at the church dedicated to the “Life-Giving Spring” Icon of the Mother of God. He was joined by numerous UOC hierarchs, ordained faculty members of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, and clergy of the monastery.

Students of the Kyiv Theological Academy and the monastery’s St. John of Damascus Theological Vocational School also prayed at the service. The clergy offered prayers for peace in the Ukrainian land and asked for God’s help for the faculty and students.

After the Communion verse, seminary lecturer Hieromonk Ambrose (Nebronchuk) delivered a sermon. At the conclusion of the celebration, Metropolitan Onuphry led a prayer service for the start of the academic year, sprinkled the faculty and students with holy water, and blessed each of them for diligent work.

As reported by the UOJ, His Beatitude chaired a meeting of the KDAiS Academic Council ahead of the new academic year.
