Representatives of the UOC-KP at the "worship" in a Greek-Catholic temple

On September 11, 2018 representatives of the UOC-KP held a divine service in the Holy Annunciation church in Jerusalem, which belongs to the Greek Catholic Patriarchate.

According to the press service of the Transcarpathian "diocese" of the UOC-KP, prayers "for patriarchs Filaret and Bartholomew and for the creation of the Local Orthodox Church in Ukraine" were offered during the service.

The Uniate Greek-Catholic Melchite church in Jerusalem is the residence of the representative of Patriarch Gregory III, based in Damascus. The Melchite church has close ties with the UGCC. The church of the Annunciation in Jerusalem is subordinate to the Pope.

Earlier, head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk decided to celebrate the Baptism of Rus along with the Orthodox, stating that "it is necessary to lay an emphasis on what unites us rather than on what separates us."
