UOC believers of Volyn to gather for prayer standing in front of RSA

Volyn Regional State Administration

On February 28, 2019, a prayer standing will be held in Lutsk in defence of the rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It will begin at 11 am in Kievskaya Square, opposite the building of the Regional State Administration, reports the press service of the Volyn eparchy.

The prayer standing with the participation of the clergy, believers of the Volyn and Vladimir-Volynsky eparchies, will be led by Metropolitan Vladimir of Vladimir-Volynsky and Kovel and Bishop Nathanael of Volyn and Lutsk.

We recall that recently in the territory of the Volyn region, there have been unlawful seizures of churches in the settlements: Berestechko, Berestianoye, Bobichi, Golyshev, Dikoviny, Krasnovolia, Krymno, Kutrov, Kulchin, Kropivshchina, Luchitsi, Nichegovka, Polozhevo, Radomyshl, Sadov, Telchi, Topolishche, and this trend is growing steadily.

As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Vladimir (Melnik) of Vladimir-Volynsky and Kovel and Bishop Nathanael (Krikota) of Volyn and Lutsk officially appealed to the head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Oleksandr Savchenko on the conflicts that arise en masse in connection with the formation of a new church structure – the OCU. However, seizures of UOC temples in the region continue. So, on February 22, the St. Nicholas Church of the UOC in the village of Zhidychin of the Kivertsy Deanery became the subject of church raiding. The seizure of the temple was not without clashes – two women, the wives of priests, were injured.
