UOC asking for help for the priest and his family evicted by OCU activists
Rector of St. George’s Church Fr. Nikolai Sliva with his wife and two children
The “Thabor” charitable foundation is asking for financial assistance for the family of a priest that is being evicted from their parish home by activists of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” (OCU) on their Facebook page.
The activists have given rector of St. George’s Church Fr. Nikolai Sliva, his matushka, and his two one-year-old children one week to leave their home in the village of Kutrov of the Volyn region.
“Dear brothers and sisters! Our charitable foundation is asking for help for Fr. Nikolai Sliva, a priest of the village of Kutrov of the Volyn region. The other day his family was given an ultimatum: to move out of the parish house within a week. And it’s not so easy—the family includes a matushka with two one-year-old babies in hand and practically no means of livelihood, because the community of the church where Fr. Nikolai served transferred to the OCU,” the foundation writes in its message.
Help for Fr. Nikolai and his family is needed urgently, as they have to move urgently and start a new life with no money in hand.
Anyone who wants to aid the family can send funds to the bank card of his matushka Miroslava Valerievna Sliva: PrivatBank 5168 7573 5695 5965.
The UOJ has already reported in the article “In Volyn, UOC communities defend their churches from OCU activists” on the fate of St. George’s Church in the village of Kutrov of the Gorokhov district in the Volyn region, whose rector was Fr. Nikolai Sliva. In January 2019, OCU supporters “transferred” this rural church to the jurisdiction of the new church structure (OCU). However, then the adherents of the new “church” did not evict the priest.
