On June 12, 2019, after the congress, where political power of Vladimir Zelensky presented the list of MP candidates, head of the Civil Servant party Dmitry Razumkov told in an interview with Strana about the position of the President and his team on the relationship between the Church and the authorities.

According to D. Razumkov, the state should not interfere in the affairs of the Church.

“The state should leave the society-splitting issues to the discretion of the people. Let them sort out everything, the government should not interfere in this,” he said.

He stressed, “If we are talking about the role of the state in this matter, the state should ensure the interests of all. Regardless of which church you go to and whether you go there altogether.”

According to the politician, if someone from believers commits illegal actions – this is a remit of law enforcement.

“If hotheads appear, which are numerous on both sides, law enforcement agencies should be involved. Regardless of who has a patch, a cross, or what pastor they go to,” the head of the presidential political force explained.

As the UOJ reported, President Vladimir Zelensky said earlier that he did not intend to discuss religious issues, as this topic splits families and society. He assured that no one will violate the laws and traditions regarding religion. Commenting on his attitude to religion, he stressed, “There are things that we never discuss at the table of our family. My father taught me so. I never discuss them with anyone. The issues of religion are number one.
