The death of the Parliamentarian from faction Popular Front Dmitry Tymchuk was caused by a gunshot wound to the head. Law enforcement agencies are considering three versions of the MP’s death: suicide, murder and careless handling of weapons. It is reported by Obozrevatel.
“Approximately an hour ago, Tymchuk’s wife called the ambulance and the police and reported that her husband while cleaning his award pistol at home, caused himself a fatal injury. By the arrival of the ambulance brigade, my friend Dmitry Tymchuk, unfortunately, had already passed away,” reports the publication the words of MP Anton Gerashchenko.
The head of the National Police, Sergei Kniazev, said that there are a number of working versions, among which are also versions of criminal nature.
“There is a female citizen who was with him in the apartment and who is now providing testimony. We are also collecting testimony of his neighbors and checking whether the interior in the apartment is spoilt,” he specified.
It is noted that criminal proceedings have already begun upon the fact under Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (murder).
The publication Strana.ua reported that, according to the testimony of Tymchuk’s civil wife, on this day the people's deputy had not slept since 4 am, had been depressed lately in general and had some alcohol on a regular basis.
“On the day of the death, he was walking around the apartment and turning the gun in his hands and clicking. He had long been pessimistic about the situation, his place and role in life, in politics. He said he was tired, that life had lost its meaning and he did not understand what to do next. When the wife was in the kitchen and he was in the room – there was a clap sound. When she came in, she saw her husband lying on the floor with a bullet wound to the head,” writes the publication, citing its own sources in the law enforcement agencies.
Recall that Dmitry Tymchuk was one of the co-authors of the anti-church bill No. 4511. He openly admitted that the new law was directed solely against the UOC.
Tymchuk is also the author of a number of fakes aimed at inciting hatred towards the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In particular, he accused Gorlovka eparchy of promoting the “Russian world” under the guise of Christian ethics lessons; he stated that the Russian Military Intelligence units were stationed at the Ukrainian Lavras; he claimed about DNR banners carried at the UOC cross processions, etc.
In addition, the Information Resistance Group coordinated by him also regularly posted statements that later turned out to be fake. For example, the information about an attempt to poison Patriarch Bartholomew during his meeting with the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Earlier, the UOJ reported on the death in an accident of Svoboda party MP Vasily Gabor, who had fought against the Pochaev Lavra.
