On July 28, 2019, President Vladimir Zelensky posted a Twitter greeting on the occasion of the 1031th anniversary of the “Baptism of Russia-Ukraine”.

“Congratulations to all on the Day of the Christianization of Kievan Rus-Ukraine! This historical event became a powerful incentive for the unification of the ancient state, its strengthening and development. I urge the heads of churches to dialogue so that faith would unite, not divide, the Ukrainian nation. In unity is our strength and our future! ” wrote the head of state.

As the UOJ reported, on July 28, with the support of Poroshenko, the OCU had a “liturgy” and a cross procession from St. Sophia to St. Vladimir Hill. According to preliminary data, about 3,000 believers participated in the procession. The celebration of the Baptism of Rus was marked by the members of the OCU structure with a "liturgy" and a procession, which was called the "Ukrainian cross procession".
