During the telephone conversation on September 14, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill informed Archbishop John (Renneteau) that the Holy Synod had decided to satisfy the request of most of the Archdiocese of Western Europe to join the Moscow Patriarchate. This is reported on the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church patriarchia.ru.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church expressed his joy at the historic event, congratulated Archbishop John and thanked him for the wise leadership of the flock.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that on September 14, 2019, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church resolved to admit Archbishop John (Renneteau), as well as all interested clergy and parishes of the Archbishopric of Orthodox Russian Churches in Western Europe to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate.
