In connection with the 75th anniversary, which the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, is celebrating today, on November 5, he has been awarded the Order of St. Equal-of-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, I Degree. This is stated in the Patriarchal Congratulations to His Beatitude, published on the website of the Moscow Patriarchate.
“The Lord wanted you to go a long path, most of which you devoted to zealous service to God and His Church,” said His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in his congratulation. “By taking monastic vows in the Monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh, you strive to remain faithful to the choice made once in all circumstances of life and work.”
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized that in the difficult years of trials, the Ukrainian people found in His Beatitude Onuphry "a caring father, a spiritually experienced archpastor, a courageous defender of the holy canons, and an ardent man of prayer before God."
“In regard to your hard work and in connection with the celebrated anniversary, I believe it is fair to honour you with the Order of the St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, I degree,” the Patriarch said, wishing the Archpastor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church good health, peace of mind and strengthening from the Lord in the further Primate ministry for the benefit of the Holy Church and the salvation of the Ukrainian flock handed to him.
