The UOC Primate addressed participants in the 18th conference of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, dedicated to the 430th anniversary of St. Peter Mohyla's birth.

Organized with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the conference brought together 63 speakers from theological and secular institutions of higher education, participating both in person and online.

This year's event commemorated the 430th anniversary of the birth, 380th anniversary of the repose, and 30th anniversary of the glorification of St. Peter Mohyla. Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, vice rector for academic affairs and methodology, read a message of greeting from the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

The plenary session opened with a presentation by KDAiS Rector Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, who addressed the challenges of establishing the exact date of St. Peter Mohyla's birth.

Archimandrite Mitrofan (Bozhko), the academy's academic secretary, presented research on how the saint was portrayed in 17th-century panegyrics.

Archpriest Mykola Stets, vice rector for student affairs at the Kharkiv Theological Seminary, delivered a paper titled “The Correspondence of Metropolitan Nikodim (Rusnak) in Preparing Materials for the Canonization of St. Peter Mohyla.”

The final presentation was given by Archimandrite Feofan (Kyryliuk), vice rector for academic affairs at the Volyn Theological Seminary. His paper was titled “The Dialogue That Never Happened: A Commentary on Genesis 4:8.”

Following the plenary session, the conference continued in five thematic sections devoted to the legacy of the Mohyla era, theology, biblical studies, the history of Orthodoxy, and the Church's ministry in the modern world.

As the UOJ previously reported, the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary opened an exhibition marking the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
