On November 26, 2019, an attack was made on the building of the Metropolis of Piraeus of the Greek Orthodox Church, reports “Romfea”.

The incident occurred early in the morning: the attackers threw stones and bottles at the building.

It is reported that the image of Jesus Christ on the facade of the building and the territory of the metropolis were affected.

Commenting on the incident, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus said: “I’m sorry about the behaviour of some of our fellow brothers, who thus encroach on our holy faith. I pray for their repentance and salvation."

The chief of police of Piraeus, Brigadier General Panagiotis Georgopoulos, arrived at the scene. An investigation is underway.

As reported by the UOJ, earlier the hierarchs of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus and Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythira and Antikythera, wrote a joint letter urging all Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches to convene the Pan-Orthodox Council on the “Ukrainian issue”.
