On December 15, 2019, at St. Michael's Cathedral of the OCU Sergei (Epiphanius) Dumenko stated that he hoped for the visit of Patriarch Bartholomew to Ukraine in the near future. The event was broadcast by Channel 5.
Speaking to Metropolitan Emmanuel of Gaul, who read out a congratulatory message from the head of Phanar on the anniversary of the creation of the OCU, Epiphany stated:
“I think that you share our happiness with us, because our success is, accordingly, your success. And so together we rejoice in our blessed success."
Epiphany congratulated Patriarch Bartholomew “on the labors he has endured for the benefit of the development not only of our church, but basically for the affirmation of all Orthodoxy. Indeed, he is now experiencing these trials that lay on his shoulders."
Sergei (Epiphany) Dumenko wished Phanar's head "good spiritual and physical health" and stated that "the OCU expects His Holiness will soon visit our Ukraine with an archpastoral visit."
Recall that the head of Phanar in his welcoming message, dedicated to the anniversary of the creation of the OCU, stated that Poroshenko did not create the Church for himself only.
