Foreign Christians Repented in the Knesset for Weak Assistance to Israel
Foreign Christians' repentance in the Israeli parliament has been criticized on social media.
A session of the 10th "Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast" was held in the Israeli Knesset, during which Christian pilgrims from different countries around the world offered public repentance before God for the actions of their governments. This was reported by A News.
Participants from Europe, Asia, and America stated that their peoples had "left Israel alone" and asked for forgiveness for opposing the actions of Israeli authorities.
During the meeting, Sarah Zhu from China prayed for the Lord to teach her compatriots to "love and support Israel," while representatives from Great Britain, Clive and Jane Urquhart, repented for their country having "turned away" from the Jewish people and allowing anti-Semitism to "roam freely through the streets."
A participant from South Korea tearfully asked God for forgiveness for words spoken by Koreans against Israel. Harald Eckert from Germany also spoke at the session, using the phrase "never again" in relation to the Holocaust.
The initiative sparked sharp criticism on social media, where users called what was happening "insane" and "diplomatic absurdity." Commentators pointed out that private groups of citizens, who have no official authority from their states, cannot offer repentance on behalf of entire nations within the walls of a foreign country's parliament.
As SPJ reported, Israeli rabbis criticized the Pope for anti-war statements.
