On December 21, 2019, in his Christmas greeting in the Roman Curia, Pope Francis expressed the viewpoint that faith in the modern world causes discrimination, persecution or even ridicule, Orthodoxia reports.
“The main concern of the Church is the conversion of people to Christianity, I realize that we no longer live in a Christian society, as Europe is flooded with non-Christians,” the pontiff said, in particular, referring to the influx of migrants.
According to him, the Christian faith "is no longer a shared element in the life of Westerners."
That is why, according to the pope, the Church should be especially diligent in evangelizing these people, who are “a cry in the wilderness of our humanity”: “No one is a stranger to God,” he said.
Recall that earlier, Pope Francis at a meeting with Buddhists called for the brotherhood of religions.
