OCU and U.S. State Department agree on bilateral cooperation

On January 31, 2020, the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo had a meeting with the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko, during which the parties reached an agreement on bilateral cooperation, reports the OCU’s official website.

Dumenko told the US Secretary of State about the formation of this religious structure, its interaction with society and the state, as well as the expansion of international relations of the OCU.

Epiphany Dumenko expressed "gratitude to the American side for the firm and reliable support for Ukraine both in the context of countering the external challenges that our country continues to face and on the path of state and democratic reforms".

In addition, according to the press service of the OCU, the representative of the State Department agreed to further support bilateral cooperation, "especially in the field of protecting freedom of conscience and religion".

As earlier reported, during a meeting with the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko, Michael Pompeo said that he was satisfied with the recognition of the OCU by the Alexandrian and Greek Orthodox Churches.
