The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide a $ 38 million program for “Measures to Strengthen National Identity Among Youth” in Ukraine, reports RT.
“The aim of this activity is to instill in young people a sense of responsibility for the democratic European future of Ukraine by further uniting youth leaders around the value-oriented idea of Ukrainian national identity based on innovation, civic activism and pluralism,” the agency said in a document.
The program, which is aimed at Ukrainians aged 10 to 35 years, should help them determine a common set of values and realize their own vision of the country.
“Although Ukrainian legislation defines young people as people aged 14-25, the USAID regional office in Ukraine will also focus on people aged 10-14, thereby recognizing the importance of early adolescence, when young people begin to form life position and models of social interaction and behavior,” the agency staff emphasized.
American experts believe that the concept of a “revolution of dignity," which implies democracy and independence, can be consolidated by the younger generation since now the youngest politicians in Ukrainian history are in power.
USAID will support through grants organizations at the national and local levels, as well as initiatives by socially excluded groups.
“Part of the grants should be allocated through the rapid response pool in order to make the best use of unique opportunities or emerging challenges,” the Americans said.
As reported earlier, Greek journalists discovered documents confirming the connection of the Patriarch of Athenagoras of Constantinople, the head of Fanar from 1949 to 1972, with the US special services.
