On February 21, 2020, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church published on its website an official refusal to participate in the Synaxis of Primates in Jordan.
"The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church announces that it is refraining from attending the above meeting and will accordingly not send its representatives to Amman, the capital of Jordan,” reads the message of the Synod. “The Holy Synod expresses its personal brotherly love for His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and its deep reverence for the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the millennial guardian of the life-giving Tomb of the Lord.”
Earlier, the Jerusalem Patriarch reported on what format the Synaxis of Primates would be held.
