President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the adoption of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the UOC, which, according to the Head of State, guarantees Ukraine "spiritual independence".
According to the document, the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience will conduct a religious examination of the Statute on the management of the UOC for church-canonical connections with the Moscow Patriarchate and, if necessary, take "legally prescribed measures."
Also, by making a decision, Zelenskyy announced the reform of the State Service for Ethnopolitics via strengthening its capabilities. According to the President, this "will allow it to really protect the rights and legitimate interests of Ukrainians and the State."
Recall that Zelenskyy put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on restrictive measures against the UOC.
