Ternopil Regional Council demands Pochaiv Lavra be returned to state ownership

On December 21, 2022, at a regular session of the Ternopil Regional Council, deputies by a majority vote adopted an appeal that demands returning the complex of buildings of the Pochaiv Dormition Monastery to state ownership, reports suspilne.media.

The appeal is addressed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the chairmen of the Verkhovna Rada and the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor-General of Ukraine.

Additionally, in the same appeal, the deputies urged the authorities to conduct "an investigation into the anti-Ukrainian activities of the UOC clerics".

49 deputies out of 50 registered voted for the appeal.

As reported, the brethren of the Pochaiv Lavra appealed to the President because of the anti-church laws.
