Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk is convinced that MPs will soon adopt a bill on the religious organization that poses a threat to Ukraine's national security, Interfax-Ukraina reports.
On December 23, 2022, during a telethon, Stefanchuk stated that “there is a decision of the National Security and Defense Council”, and the Cabinet of Ministers “has been given the task of developing a bill in the near future, which will be unanimously, I am sure, approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: what should be done next with some kind of religious organization that poses a national threat to the security of Ukraine, and we will accept it.”
“I think that we will work out this bill, submit it to the Rada and vote in the near future,” Stefanchuk said.
He stressed that everyone is ready for radical decisions regarding Ukraine's security issues. “According to the Constitution, the state is separated from religion in our country, but this does not mean that anyone can jeopardize the state security of Ukraine under the guise of religion,” the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament said.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the State Ethnopolitics told how the UOC could be banned.
