In an interview with Radio Svoboda, former head of the State Ethnopolitics Olena Bohdan said that the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience does not have the authority to close any religious organization or structure (at the time of the interview, Bohdan was still the head of the service, but she already knew about her dismissal).
“We can go to court, citing a court verdict that establishes a certain violation of this religious organization, and suggest that we remove this legal entity from registration,” Bohdan explained.
The ex-head of the State Ethnopolitics called the situation that has developed in Ukraine around the canonical Church extremely difficult.
“The situation is incredibly difficult, it can actually turn into a tragedy. There is a huge tension in society, which is being used for political purposes, for electoral purposes,” she said.
As the UOJ reported, earlier Olena Bohdan said that outlawing the UOC would cause destabilization in Ukraine.
