On April 27, 2020, the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, said that a week after Easter there was no outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine. He told about this on the air of the ICTV channel.
“A week after Easter and 2 months after the introduction of quarantine measures, we can say that all this works. <...> If we are talking about Easter, then the work carried out by the President, the government, as well as all the heads of regional administrations, people's deputies, as well as representatives of the Churches, had an effect,” Liashko noted. “Instead of 8 million <...> 130,000 came to the temples. These are the efforts of the authorities and they had a positive effect.”
According to him, half the period has passed since Easter, during which the coronavirus would have spread if people had become infected in the temples. In this time, there has been no incidence.
“After a week, we don’t have a significant outbreak in Ukraine,” said the chief sanitary officer of Ukraine. “It may be the case, we could forecast it, now is only the seventh day after Easter. We know that the incubation period of the incidence is up to 14 days. But nevertheless, if you observe quarantine measures, work and adhere to self-isolation, then the country is moving along in the regime that was planned.”
Liashko also drew attention to the fact that there is no peak load on medical facilities in the country except for a few populated areas.
Earlier, the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine said that a surge in the coronavirus infection is possible within 5-7 days after Easter.
