The situation with the parishes and monasteries of the UOC is a matter of public safety, said the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) of Boryspil and Brovary, on the air of the KRT TV channel (1:10:33 min. – Ed.). He reported on how the investigation of arson in the monasteries of the UOC is going on and commented on the events of May 4 in the village of Zadubrivka, Chernivtsi region.
“The President, as far as I know, is reported on the situation and the investigation. I would also like to say that all those issues were taken under special control by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Vladyka Anthony said. “I am personally in direct contact with the head of the National Police Igor Vladimirovich Klimenko. And as far as I know, something has already been done in this direction, the investigations are progressing.”
The bishop also hopes that those investigations that have not been conducted over the past 6 years will finally receive a legal assessment. And it’s not only about the events of recent days, but also about what has happened in the country earlier, Met. Anthony added.
“Zadubrivka is a legacy we received during the reign of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko,” he commented on what happened on May 4 at the Archangel Michael Church of the UOC in the village of Zadubrivka.
The UOC hierarch also recalled that the clergy and believers of the UOC are still confronted with lies and manipulations in relation to the Church.
“If this is the approach to the situation, then it is very difficult to think about peace,” he concluded.
On May 5, 2020, Metropolitan Anthony addressed the authorities in connection with the assault on the Zadubrivka temple.
