On May 31, 2020, it became known that a detachment of the National Police of Ukraine and a bus with a group of soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine arrived at the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of Archangel Michael in the village of Zadubrivka, Chernivtsi Region. The UOJ correspondent contacted the rector of the church, Fr. Vitaly Durov, and asked to tell about the purposes of this visit.
According to the priest, law enforcement officers and the National Guard arrived at the church to protect the UOC believers from possible provocations and to ensure order around the temple during the worship.
According to the police, the OCU activists planned to gather at the church in honor of Archangel Michael. The leadership of law enforcement agencies decided to safeguard the parishioners in case of possible provocations.
“During the last month, thanks to enhanced action of the National Police, provocations were avoided. The OCU activists no longer turn up at the temple. Finally, the peace we had all been waiting for came to the village at least during the services,” said priest Vitaly.
Earlier, former Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin drew the attention of the clergy, believers and the public to the fact that the UOC should strengthen legal protection.
