Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria) of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Chairman of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said that the UOC does not rule out that representatives of radical groups will “evict” the monks from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
In an interview with the UOJ correspondent, Metropolitan Clement, answering the question whether radicals can come to the Lavra, said that “we can be guided not by fiction, but by official statements, on the official resources of the Verkhovna Rada, from the deputy corps.”
In particular, Vladyka noted that MP Nikita Poturayev "publicly stated that he was aware of the intentions of radical groups to commit forceful actions against the believers of the UOC."
“It can be assumed that he not only communicates, but also directs the actions of such inadequate citizens or people who are absolutely far from abiding by the legislation of Ukraine,” the bishop emphasized and added that “we cannot rule out that such actions are possible.”
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC told why the monks were taking their belongings out of the Lavra.
