The Kyiv authorities will consider a petition calling for the termination of all agreements with the canonical UOC as it has collected the necessary 6,000 votes for consideration.
The petition was posted on the website of the Kyiv City Council on 5 April 2023.
The author of the petition demands "to terminate all agreements concluded between the Kyiv City Council, Kyiv City State Administration, their structural subdivisions, subordinate communal organizations, institutions and enterprises and the UOC".
The text notes that the Kyiv local self-government body is authorized to break agreements to which it is a party.
In case of such a decision, the UOC will be deprived of "land under its feet", basic benefits and services, which, according to the petition's author, will significantly complicate or make it impossible for the UOC to operate in the territory of the Ukrainian capital.
The petition should be considered within 10 working days from the date of the announcement of the start of its consideration.
As earlier reported, the Kyiv Council admitted that it had not found communities of the "Moscow Patriarchate".
