The Kyiv District Administrative Court registered a case on the claim of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church against the Ministry of Culture, which has not been considered since 2019. This was reported on the Glavcom website with reference to the court registry data.

In 2019, the Kyiv District Administrative Court stopped the process of forced renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

On April 12 of this year, the Court referred this case to the Kyiv District Administrative Court. The presiding judge Alena Kushnova decided: the consideration will be held according to the rules of simplified proceedings, without notifying the parties and according to the materials available in the case.

As reported by the UOJ, in April 2019, the court satisfied the application of the UOC, taking into account the fact that renaming may significantly complicate or make it impossible to restore the violated rights of the UOC. “The District Administrative Court of Kyiv city has considered an application for securing a claim in the case on the annulment of the order of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, according to which the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a number of religious organizations must amend their official names and submit appropriate changes to their charter for registration before April 26, 2019,” the court said.

It should be noted that the court involved 265 religious organizations as third parties in the case.
