On May 11, 2023, representatives of the delegation of the World Council of Churches from Switzerland, who arrived in Kyiv that day, came to the prayer standing of the UOC near the Lavra, which was headed by Metropolitan Varsonofy.
The current head of the WCC and a representative of the Presbyterian Church of South Africa Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, Lutheran Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Shtrohm and other members of the delegation came to the Lower Lavra.
Earlier, Heinrich Bedford-Shtrom said that a delegation of the World Council of Churches would visit Ukraine to "contact with churches that are in a difficult situation, marked by internal tensions." Then the head of the WCC intends to visit the Russian Federation.
Recall, the UOJ wrote that His Beatitude Onuphry prayed with the faithful during the standing in the Lavra.
