On May 24, 2023, members of the OCU "Bishops’ Council" voted for adopting the new calendar, reports "Metropolitan" Simeon Shostatsky to the BBC.
Only one bishop of the OCU voted against the transition to the "European" calendar and one bishop abstained.
"Previously, we used to talk about Polish (Catholic) and Ukrainian (Orthodox) holidays, but today we talk about Ukrainian and Moscow holidays. The new calendar will be Ukrainian, and those who remain on the old calendar will be somewhat on the Moscow calendar," said Shostatsky.
Additionally, several holidays, including Easter and Pentecost, will still be celebrated according to the old calendar in the OCU.
As previously reported, the authorities allowed the OCU to use the Refectory Church for holding the "Bishops’ Council".
