ROC Synod appoints new head of Belarusian Exarchate

On August 25, 2020, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church appointed a new Patriarchal Exarch of Belarus, reports the chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media Vladimir Legoyda on his Telegram channel.

“The Holy Synod has accepted the petition of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslawye, for the dismissal of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus and expressed gratitude to him for the work done,” wrote Vladimir Legoyda.

According to him, Bishop Veniamin (Tupeko) of Borisov and Maryina Gorka was appointed Patriarchal Exarch of Belarus, and Metropolitan Pavel was appointed head of the Kuban Metropolitanate. Vladyka Veniamin retained the temporary administration of the Borisov Eparchy.

As reported earlier, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church began in the patriarchal residence of the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow.
