During a working trip to Lviv, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky visited the new museum of Metropolitan of the UGCC Andrey Sheptytsky and watched the museum's exposition, the presidential press service reports.

“The history of the cells themselves is interesting,” noted the press service of the Head of State. During the time of the Austrian rule, the monastery was closed by decree of the kaiser. Then there was a hospital for the sisters of mercy in the room; during the Soviet era, a women's colony was opened here. Then the premises were transferred to the police school and the University of Internal Affairs. The monastery has the status of a historical monument and is under the protection of UNESCO. At first, the premises of the church were on the balance sheet of the Lviv City Council. However, by the decision of the session and the executive committee of the Lviv City Hall in 2011-2012, these premises were transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

In 2019, the press service added, the City Council "suggested that the Lviv University of Internal Affairs give the premises of the Cathedral of Blessed Clement Sheptytsky", and in early July 2020, "the initiative group asked to transfer the premises for the arrangement of the museum."

As the UOJ reported earlier, the Office of the President said that they expect the recognition of Metropolitan of the UGCC Andrey Sheptytsky as "Righteous Among the Nations". At the same time, the Yad Vashem Memorial Institute of Holocaust and Heroism recalls that Sheptytsky welcomed the Nazi occupiers and his "way of action contributed to the entry of Ukrainians into the ranks of the murderers of Jewish families."
