The exarch of Phanar in Kyiv, Archimandrite Mikhail (Anishchenko), explained in a comment to the journalists of the PavlovskyNews Telegram channel why services at St. Andrew's church are not held in Greek.

The archimandrite said that now in the church, which he called the "office", there are only two representatives of Constantinople – his assistant and he. His only task now is to perform divine services, which take place in one of the allocated administrative rooms, while the rest of the temple is under reconstruction.

At the same time, divine services are performed in the Ukrainian language, since “no one understands Greek”. In the future, the exarch said, they plan to switch to English.

“The reconstruction of St. Andrew's church is supposed to be finished by the New Year. Most likely, after the opening of the temple, it will work in the format of a church-museum: admission to services is free, otherwise it is paid,” the Telegram channel specifies.

It will be reminded that the famous fighter for the purity of the Ukrainian language Larisa Nitsoy was outraged that the first service of Constantinople in St. Andrew's church was held in the "Muscovite" language.
