The Legal Department of the UOC said that on the fact of the beating of believers in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on July 6, 2023, applications will be submitted to the police, the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports.
The Legal Department noted that on July 6, "believers were restricted access to places of worship and thereby were limited the constitutionally enshrined right to freely practice any religion."
In addition, "there are facts of beating people who tried to prevent the seizure of their shrine."
“In response to numerous calls from believers to the 102 (official police service phone number – Ed.) telephone hotline, they received information that police officers were on site, so there was no response to reports of crimes. An investigative task force was called, which also procrastinated with the arrival for a long time,” the UOC reported.
In this regard, the Legal Department stated that "regarding violations of the rights of citizens and the commission of a number of crimes, reports on crimes will be submitted to law enforcement agencies."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC commented on the actions of the Reserve in the Lavra.
