Head of Phanar meets with Prime Minister of North Macedonia

On July 15, 2023, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, reports fosfanariou.gr website.

During the meeting, they had the opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest in a cordial atmosphere. The Prime Minister of North Macedonia was in Istanbul for a private visit.

Previously, it was reported that the Serbian Patriarch had granted the Tomos of autocephaly to the Macedonian Church. In response, the head of the Macedonian Church stated that they would be seeking the Tomos from the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Earlier this year, a delegation from the Macedonian Church visited the Phanar, and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, had invited Patriarch Bartholomew to visit the country.

Additionally, the Macedonian Church has refused to serve with representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
