In his telegram channel, lawyer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Fr. Nikita Chekman, commented on the decision of the court, which recognized the termination the agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the monastery as legitimate.
According to him, "it would be naive to expect a different decision in a situation when the entire administrative resource was involved in order to deprive the Monastery of its right to engage in religious activities."
The lawyer asserted that no evidence that the monastery “kept its property in an improper condition”, thus “violating the terms of the Agreement”, had been provided or could be provided.
According to the lawyer, "all national and international means of protection will be used to defend the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."
Lawyers of the Lavra are currently preparing an appeal.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the court recognized as legitimate the Ministry of Culture's rupture of the agreement with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
