The weekend quarantine, aimed at combating the spread of coronavirus infection, should in no way prohibit believers from meeting their religious needs to visit the temple in compliance with all quarantine norms. This is stated in the commentary of the head of the Legal Department of the UOC, Archpriest Alexander Bakhov, published on the website of the Synodal Department.

The Archpriest noted that the introduction of new restrictive measures has caused anxiety among believers.

"The idea of ‘weekend quarantine’ is being translated into action,” said the head of the Legal Department of the UOC. “Despite the fact that nothing is said about the temples, we consider it necessary to draw attention to the fact that the weekend quarantine in no case should prohibit worshiping. The believers should be given the opportunity to visit the temple in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological standards, because health is not only about the absence of diseases or physical defects, but also a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being."

As reported by the UOJ, on November 9, 2020, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that the introduction of temporary quarantine for the weekend could last for several weeks.
