On November 20, representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO) met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, reports the Telegram channel of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Bishop Victor of Baryshevka, vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis, took part in the event on behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
As the Telegram-channel specifies, the meeting discussed issues of countering the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as military and medical chaplaincy.
Bishop Victor in his speech drew attention to the imbalance of quarantine restrictions in relation to religious organizations.
“While we are well aware of the need for our government to introduce anti-epidemic measures, at the same time, we want to draw attention to the imbalance of quarantine restrictions in relation to religious organizations, in particular, limiting the number of persons to 20 during worship or other religious rituals,” Vladyka noted.
As the UOJ previously reported, human rights defenders in the OSCE called to ease quarantine measures for religious services.
