The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus will take an official stand on the "Ukrainian issue" at the next meeting on Wednesday, reports Orthodox Times.
A member of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos, explained that there is currently no decision, but the extraordinary meeting, which took place on Monday, November 23, 2020, was held "in the spirit of love and unity".
“Clarifications were given, and misunderstandings have disappeared,” the hierarch is quoted as saying by Romfea.
Asked if there was a case for Archbishop Chrysostomos to revert his decision for the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Metropolitan repeated that the hierarchs of the Cypriot Church would come to a unanimous decision on Wednesday.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Primate of the Church of Cyprus will convene the Holy Synod, but he does not intend to put up the issues of commemorating Epiphany Dumenko and the "autocephaly" of the OCU for the synodal vote.
